The Family scout programme

Family scouts are for children aged 5-7 together with their families. One of the goals of the family scout programme is to deepen the bond and strengthen the relationship between the child and the adult who take part in scouting together. The children get the chance to take part in a challenging and exciting scouting experience, where they get to be active out in nature and to share that with their family. Parents and other family members are active participants alongside the children at every scout meeting, and are there to experience scouting for themselves and to support and encourage their children.

Meeting places vary depending on the activity, and families are told the location of the meeting well in advance. In the great majority of cases meetings are held outdoors, so it is important that all family members are dressed for the weather. Activities include such things as outdoor cooking, trips to the shore, hikes, nature bingo and so on.
