Dragon scouts

"We are Dragon scouts, why aren't you!?" Dragon scouts are 7-9 years old and the sweethearts of every scout group

The Dragon scout programme

Dragon scouts are 7-9 years old, and the programme is described as “weekly meetings in the scout patrol, where the scouts work in smaller groups” (BÍS, Icelandic).

The Dragon scout programme covers, among other things, taking part in the work of the scout patrol; going on longer trips and taking the first steps towards fending for oneself in nature; recognising one’s own needs and responding to them; and expressing one’s own opinion.

Dragon scout leaders work on behalf of the scouts to organise a fun and educational patrol programme. The scouts come to meetings to get to know scouting, to spend time with their peers in an environment where there is nothing to do but work together, and to experience a social life outside of school.
